What We Can Expect in WWDC 2011

There is only 1 day left till WWDC 2011, the most important event of Apple each year. WWDC is known as the place for Apple to introduce new products as well as upgrade its old products. Basically, the WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) is a conference for developers to know more about softwares and applications on Apple platforms such as iOS or Mac OS X. Developers will have access to new features of the platform that they will be working on. In general, WWDC gets more technical aspects than a mere product exhibition.

However, in the last few years, the WWDC has got more attention from the media and press because the first iPhone was introduced in WWDC 2007. And after that, we always see Steve Jobs come on stage to announce generations of iPhone. Therefore, WWDC has become one of the most anticipated conference of the technology world. While waiting for the start of WWDC, let’s look at what we can expect in the event this year.

1. Steve Jobs will take stage

This is probably one of the most important news about the WWDC 2011. Despite poor health status, the CEO of Apple announced that he will take stage at WWDC 2011. For many fans of Apple, watching Steve Jobs introduce features of new products is even more interesting than using them.

The appearance of Steve Jobs could bring success to the event as he is considered one of the most talented speakers in the world. Still the slender look with the Levi’s jeans and black T-shirt, Steve always knows how to surprise us on stage.

2. No iPhone 5, but there will be iOS 5

We have heard a lot of rumors about the announcement of iPhone 5/4S. Some stated that the iPhone 5 would be released right at the WWDC 2011, some insisted that it would be delayed to be released later this year. Even the name of the 5th-generation iPhone hasn’t known exactly as Apple would never deny or confirm it, will it be called iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S?

And now, we have many reasons to believe that the 5th generation of iPhone will not be announced at WWDC 2011. In the latest press release, Apple announced that it would launch iOS 5 but the iPhone 5 wasn’t mentioned. However, Apple surprised its users many times in the past, especially when Steve Jobs goes on stage, so we can still expect Steve Jobs would hold the new iPhone with a big smile tomorrow.

Some features of iOS 5:

  • Genuine multi-tasking
  • Better speech-recognition
  • Support for widgets like in Android
  • Improved notification system

3. iCloud

iCloud was officially announced in a press release even before the WWDC. One of the biggest surprise could be the release of iCloud as it could be free for Mac OS X Lion users. iCloud will replace the current service of Apple, MobileMe, to keep your mail, contacts, and calendar information in the cloud so that they could be synced perfectly among your Apple’s devices. At the moment, MobileMe charges us $99/year, so we can expect cheaper price for iCloud.

Oh, I am very sorry. I don’t speak English so sometimes I can’t recognize mistakes in my writing. Thanks so much for the notice, mate.
Are you using a Mac too?

  3. Alexis:

That’s a great info. I’m not a developer so unfortunately I’ve got no much to say.
    Thanks for the post.

  4. Tuan:

    You are welcome, Alexis.
I am also not a developer but the Apple’s events always interest me. I will update more news about the WWDC tomorrow.

Hopefully I am soon able to use iCloud. It looks like Apple is running in the right way. Cloud technology and centralizing data are indispensable solutions to keep their customers’ loyalty. I hope there won’t any requirements to register and use iCloud since I have not had any Apple’s device so far. :-P .

PS: These days, I have been falling in a very busy case. The coming summer will be a great period to refresh blogging career :-P .

  6. Tuan:

Yeah, it is amazing that iCloud is available for Windows PC also. However, I think that we still need to get an Apple device to use it because the cloud is integrated into apps. Anyways, I have similar solutions for my Android device, so I am not worried much about it. :)
The summer is coming, it is time for holiday and blogging. Wish you the best.
