There have been a lot of rumours saying that iPhone 5 will be released this summer and the specific release date is still in secret. However, the release schedule is just cleared up accidentally by a hint from Francis Shammo, the Verizon Chief Financial Officer.
Yesterday at a Morgan Stanley conference, he said that Verizon will end offering unlimited data plans for iPhone 4 in the mid-summer time frame. The unlimited plan is said to be not a long term solution and not be able to bring big revenue to Verizon because iPhone users tend to use more data than others. That’s why all users will be switched to a tiered pricing offering soon. But that’s not all the story.
Verizon is trying to convince hesitant consumers to get their iPhone 4 and stop waiting for iPhone 5. But by using the word summer, it just fuels more speculations that the unlimited data plan will be ceased for the release of iPhone 5. The change in strategy of Verizon just gave away important information that both Verizon and Apple don’t want to disclose, they even want us to believe that the iPhone 5 even doesn’t exist.
A Reuters’ report shows that Verizon’s shares dropped by 2.4 percent after Shammo warned that the unlimited data plan could affect negatively their profit. So now we can believe that an the Verizon CDMA iPhone 5 would arrive later this year. Some analysts assume this is a clear signal that iPhone 5 is coming to Verizon in the third quarter. Some others state that it will be announced right on June 6 at WWDC held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Then again, if you are not considering the unlimited data plan more important than owning the latest Apple iPhone, you shouldn’t get iPhone 4 at the moment.

Hm..I still think that it won’t be iPhone 4 this summer. iPhone 4 was quite revolutionary so I wouldn’t think they are going to release something else revolutionary in a year’s time. Perhaps a few improvements

Actually iPhone 4 was released last year and the revolutionary phone is quite outdated compared to Android smartphones now. I don’t think a big corporation like Apple can stand still to see others overcome.
So, I believe iPhone 5 will be announced later this year.
Hem… it seems iPhone 5 is nearer. With this rumors, no wonder people do not buy the iPhone 4 but wait for iPhone 5 instead.
Yeah, nobody wants to spend money for a device that will become obsolete in just a few months. It will be a big blunder.

Anyways, they both are great products and always make us excited each time they release. I will try to buy the iPhone 5 soon on the first days.
I think Apple will design one version that can working for both GSM and CDMA as well.
