Steve Jobs took the stage to explain the issues surround the iPhone 4 antenna in a press conference held at Cupertino, California. Jobs says the issue only affects 0.55 percent of all iPhone 4s, return rates are only 1.7 percent and while the iPhone 4 does drop more calls than the previous iPhone, it is only 1 more out of every 100 calls.

I think Apple has even worse problems than this – I have found several videos on youtube that shows that it’s enough to just touch the iPhone at its seam with a finger to make the reception drop – quite scary actually…

I saw this problem in many videos when users touch the antenna strip on lower left of iPhone 4. Apple should take the responsibility for poor design in iPhone 4, not trying to blame someone else.
What’s amazing to me is how these days people like Steve Jobs can point to a products failures as a “what’s the big deal” issue. I remember when making a product better than the previous one was the whole point of the next version of the product. These days it’s more of making them look prettier regardless if they work.
All you have to do is watch the TV commercials of many products to see how the products are like the burgers in a fast food commercial, it’s all made to look like a first class product on TV but the real product is really a second rate product.
This event once again proves my point, let’s be a smart consumer. Why we have to haste in buying their products, they had excellent products, but it doesn’t mean that the next product will be good. I was very amazed at how Steve Jobs introduced the new antenna design, and now we are all disappointed with it, commercials are unbelievable.
Thanks for your comment, Charles.
