Image SEO for your Blog

A picture is worth a thousand words. That is the truth, but have you used images in your blog in the most effective way? Optimizing your image’s filenames and alt text makes it easier for image search engines like Google Image Search to understand your images better.

All images have a distinct filename, “title” and “alt” attribute, those are what you should take advantage of.

• ALT attribute is the most important part of image SEO. It describes your image to search engine and allows you to specify alternative text for the image if it cannot be displayed.
• TITLE attribute play a less important role, this text will automatically appear in the tooltip when mouse is over the image.

If you didn’t care about image SEO in the past, you should fix it now. Iam sure it will bring more traffic to your blog.

If you are using WordPress, you can try the SEO Friendly Images plugin. The plugin will add ALT and TITLE tags to your images in old posts.
