This is an augmented reality billboard located in New York City’s famous Times Square. This one brings the augmented reality to a new level as it can interact with the crowd.
The concept is based on Spy camera technology that’s usually used in government or security surveillance. In fact, Space150, the agency behind it, had to consult surveillance experts to complete it.
“If you see the way the computer works, it’s like Predator or something,” says Billy Jurewicz, founder and CEO of Space150. “Each person has a halo with data.” Adds Jurewicz, “The board now is like the iPod 1.0. We’re going to be updating this more and more.” Future versions, with better cameras, might include the model holding a magnifying glass to the crowd, or picking someone up and holding them up to the face of the billboard, so the entire crowd can get a closer look.
Take a look at the video of the special billboard, it’s definitely a concept that is bound to become a popular advertising trend in the next few years.
Tuan, this is a very interesting concept, both exciting and a bit scary.
We’re being watched and recorded in so many places now…
Yes, I find it very brilliant, now it is the times of augmented reality and I can’t wait for its potential future like Space150′s CEO said, very promising.
Really cool! That’s amazing. It’s the advertisement interacting with the costumer. That’s a really interesting marketing/tech improvement.
Yes, augmented reality is applied broadly in many areas. It helps us create amazing interactive billboard like this one and there will be more coming in the near future.
Wow! I wonder who else is watching me right now. The very thought of seeing own-self at the center of an ad bill-board sounds exciting though
Really unique and Innovative concept. This billboard must have become the center of attraction in Times Square.
I wonder if we are we going to see more of the LG Optimus 3D in the Augmented reality arena! – This new Android Smartphone MUST be a winner when AR is in question. Looking forward to seeing what is going to be developed for this cool phone using AR.
Really interesting use of AR, similar to a campaign I saw in Holland i think. AR billboard marketing has the potential to be huge. Really good example
