7 Unique Yet Effective Ways To Generate Traffic

There are many ways of driving traffic to your blog. Tapping into some of those unique ways may enable you to get traffic faster without having to rely on more traditional methods.

Add Promotions to Pinterest

Many bloggers are already using Pinterest to draw traffic. Have you tried adding a promotion to it where you simply give something away? Create a page where they can sign up to get your gift and be sure to link it from Pinterest.

Don’t Work Alone

Contact others in your niche and encourage them to submit guest posts, in exchange for putting one on theirs. This could let you start to get some of their traffic. If you need some ideas about where to find people willing to take guest posts, consider blog communities such as Blog Engage or Blogher.

Convert Blog Posts Into Documents and Publish

While not a new idea, it will certainly drive some traffic to your blog if you gather some older posts together by topic and turn them into pdfs. Then publish them on places like Scribd, or other sites that share docs. An alternative is to condense the content into a slide presentation to post on SlideShare. One average size post could potentially yield a number of useful presentations.

Add a Blog Translator Plugin
If you believe your blog has value to people of other languages/nations, be sure to give them a better translation. Search engines will do this but they often create poor translations. Find a good plugin that will do it right and get more traffic. Alternatively, you might consider partnering up with someone in a foreign language who also has a blog in the same field. You may be able to produce mutual translations of your respective blogs, thereby gaining additional traffic.

Create Links on YouTube

Creating your own video to put on YouTube is great for traffic, but it is not the only way to get traffic from this giant. Simply make comments under videos in your niche and be sure to leave a link to your related blog post. Google loves YouTube, and don’t forget to link to other people’s videos, too.

Consider Local Offline Advertising

If your blog is of particular interest to people in your neighborhood, make some fliers or business cards and post them in grocery stores or on other community bulletin boards. These can also be left with a tip when you eat at a restaurant. A bumper sticker would also work well.

Update Blog Titles

Oftentimes, you may have hundreds of blog posts that your current readers have not seen yet. Simply by changing your titles and making old ones more attractive, you can generate more traffic. CopyBlogger mentions a case where the original post received just 100 visitors, but after changing the name, 5,000 came!

Bonus Tip: Tweet About Your Post More Than Once
Twitter streams can get pretty crowded and it’s easy for good tweets to fall by the wayside. Consider re-tweeting your new post at another time throughout the day, or week, if you only post a couple of times weekly.

The Internet is constantly changing and new tactics are continually being developed. However, as others have said, the only traffic generation tips that work are the ones you actually use. It is best if you try one or two at a time and see which ones work best – then continue using the best and try some more along with what you know works!
